Eswatini retaining its eligibility under AGOA has been very well received within the business community.
According to Business Eswatini (B E) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) E. Nathi Dlamini, this development was critical, as AGOA provided duty-free access to the US market for a wide range of Eswatini’s exports, supporting local industries, creating jobs and fostering economic growth.
He said at a time when global trade was shaped by shifting geopolitical dynamics and increasing competition, maintaining and strengthening Eswatini’s trade relationships was imperative.

“AGOA is not just about preferential access; it is also a signal of investor confidence and an opportunity to further integrate Eswatini into global value chains,” said Dlamini.
He said government, private sector and all stakeholders must continue working together to maximise the benefits of AGOA by enhancing production capacity, improving competitiveness, and diversifying our export base.
He said the country must also ensure that it continued upholding governance, labor and economic reforms that underpin Eswatini’s eligibility for AGOA.
“By maintaining strong trade relations with all our partners, Eswatini can position itself as a reliable and attractive trade and investment destination, securing long-term benefits for businesses and citizens alike,” he said.
