At least 2 000 jobs will be created by the Ndzevane and Gamula factory shells when they reach their full production capacity.
The factory shells have already engaged 500 employees and the investors have invested over E110 million in both factories.
The Ndzevane factory shell will be occupied by Sigma Clothing, a company that also has a branch in Matsapha and employs 900 employees there.
The Gamula factory shell will be occupied by Smart Wear Clothing. When touring the clothing firms yesterday, His Majesty King Mswati III said what made him happy was that 500 people had already been employed by both firms for the first phase.
He said more phases were still being implemented with both companies expected to employ over 2 000 people when they reach their full production capacity. Each company is expected to employ over 1 000 locals from the Lubulini and Nkilongo tinkhundla.
“There will be 1 000 people employed in each factory and we are happy to see such initiatives because they come with advanced technology. The young people who are still at school are studying technology, which is something that they need to apply in such industries and improve their skills,” His Majesty said.
The king added that other phases would be introduced in the factories, enabling the employment of more people.

He handed over the project to the people and stressed that they should take care of it because it was now theirs. He applauded the investors opening the factories, stating that this showed the confidence they have in the area and the country.
He said there was a lot of collaboration between the investors who owned the firms and the nation through the construction of the factory shells. He applauded Stefanutti Stocks alongside Micro-Projects for constructing the factory shells.
He also applauded the ministry of commerce, industry and trade and Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), for not only building the factory shells along the Manzini-Mbabane corridor but also in rural areas.
His Majesty said these factories would avail job opportunities for the people around the two constituencies. He mentioned that the most common thing that he had discovered while touring the Hhohho region was that people were battling with poverty. He said the availability of job opportunities would assist in bringing income to households so that parents can be able to provide for their children.
He added that the construction of firms and the availability of jobs shows that the country would develop.
“I hope that the companies will teach the nation about the work that is being done here so that people can work and supply them with the material that would be produced here in the future without having to be employed,” he said.
He said the investors of such companies have been firmly advised not to employ less than 200 people. Managing Director at e-Commerce Brett Robson said the Ndzevane firm would produce specialised items. She said they were focused on specialised machinery and investing in it, which is why they were selling stuff that is not sold in other factories. She said they would be making coats, jackets and dresses, highlighting that they were very versatile as a factory.
“We go to China every two years to bring in the machinery that can increase our capacity and customer base and make sure that we produce high-quality items in Eswatini,” she said.
She added that they would be exporting their products to all the major supply chains in South Africa.
She said they would be supplying retail chains like PEP. She said these companies would then supply the garments to other Sub-Saharan countries, including Eswatini.
Managing Director of Sigma Clothing Michael Zungu said they were in the clothing industry. He said they would have employed over 1 000 people when the company reaches its full capacity.
“90 per cent of the items that we sew are for females and 10 per cent for males. We agreed to start operating around April since we started training some of the employees at Gamula while the factory here at Ndzevane was still under construction,” he said.
