CHAOS, FIGHTS AT PIGG’S PEAK

By Sisho Magagula | 2018-08-26

Total chaos erupted at Pigg’s Peak when voting closed at 1900 hours yesterday.

Police officers had a torrid time trying to ward off angry voters who were forcefully pushing the gate to gain entry.  One of the nominees, Hlobisile Ndlovu, went out of Gobolondo Hall to try and calm down the angry voters.

She thought the people who were causing the problems at the gate were her supporters.  While all this was happening, over 100 people were patiently waiting on the road leading to town.  Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza remained seated inside.  Mabuza was very calm, wearing a grey suit and black shoes. A man was engaged in a serious verbal confrontation at the gate with police officers. A woman collapsed and was attended to by paramedics while voting  continued inside. It is not too clear what made her collapse.

The man, supported by over 50 people, was demanding to get inside when voting had already closed.  Meanwhile, one would cut the tension with a knife inside the hall as people voted. In the other voting centres, it was very quiet as people voted. At Emagobodvo primary, people were voting silently while polling officers looked on.
