With booze flowing freely, several fights had to be broken up before 5pm when disagreements spiralled out of control at the Kwaluseni Constituency’s Siphumelele voting station which services the Logoba Chiefdom.
Spurts of violence were witnessed as over sensitive voters fought over one thing or the other. It called for the sober minded to stop those present from injuring each other. At each turn, when the instigators were asked about reasons behind their trying to draw first blood, the reason was said to be something said or misunderstood. The youthful crowd was noted drinking from as early as the morning hours with the occasional crate of beers being replenished whenever the previous one was depleted. These were brought by the aspiring politicians or their agents
As the sun was setting, some of the aspiring politicians complained that the area was not going to be conducive when it got dark due to the drunken nature of their supporters.
“The best thing is for us to send them home because we do not have street lights in this area. It will be risky once it gets dark,” he said.
