HER Majesty the Indlovukazi and Emazinyane joined throngs of delighted Emaswati on Monday night at Lozitha Palace to present birthday gifts to His Majesty King Mswati III.
Emaswati heeded the call by Home Affairs Minister Princess Tsandzile to converge at the Royal palace to present birthday gifts to His Majesty. Companies that contributed towards the 50/50 celebrations were also given an opportunity to present replica cheques.
Leading by example, Her Majesty and Emazinyane gifted His Majesty top of the range gifts.
Making her remarks, Her Majesty said like the whole nation, they were pleased to have lived to see His Majesty turn 50 years and in turn give him a gift befitting his age.
"Like the whole nation, we want to celebrate with you and also honour you on your birthday. We also wish you a long life like other speakers who have presented gifts who said they wish you 50 more years without aging," she said.
She said the gift that she was presenting was fitting of His Majesty's age. The Indlovukazi presented the King with a dining room suite made of gold. Her Majesty said His Majesty had come of age and, therefore, this gift was fitting.
“The dining room suite is made of gold. You have come of age and you deserve to sit at a table like this," she said.
Presented
Her Majesty the Indlovukazi was followed by Emazinyane who presented His Majesty with a gold bird statue. Inkhosatana Sikhanyiso, presenting the gift on behalf of Emazinyane, said they had considered a lot of gifts before they got to the one they offered. She said they had considered cattle but they realised that His Majesty’s kraals were getting smaller, especially since he would soon be receiving more, much to the amusement of everyone present. "We considered quite a lot of things before we got to this one. We got you a statue of a bird which could easily be referred to as the lion of birds. The cattle option we dismissed because your kraals Your Majesty are becoming smaller and soon you will be receiving more," she said.
Cabinet also gifted His Majesty with a lounge suite.
The throngs of Emaswati gifted His Majesty with different gifts from top of the range furniture, appliances down to hand made emagcebesha, vegetables and fruits.
Gifts
Emaswati from all walks of life seized the opportunity and when receiving their gifts, the King said it was such a great honour for them to stand before him and wish him a happy birthday.
Some also used the opportunity to tell the King problems they were faced with back home.
