By Nomalungelo Phiri | 2025-04-06

SOCCER - Royal Leopard and Moneni Pirates have promised fireworks ahead of the Ingwenyama Cup final tomorrow to be played at the Somhlolo National Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Leopard coach Edwin Matsebula expressed confidence in his team’s ability to lift the trophy.

“We were faced with some of the most difficult games in the tournament,  especially in the quarterfinals against Green Mamba and semi-finals against Young Buffaloes.

Our road to the final wasn’t easy but this is the chance to redeem ourselves after the tough tests. We have been in a cup final twice and came back empty handed.  So we are determined to do things differently this time around,” he said.

The coach added that it was crucial for the players to have a positive mindset going to the final, He also pointed out that they have an injury-free squad

Skipper, Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’Nkambule also noted that they were facing a familiar opposition.
“We have played Pirates before so we know what to expect. We are ready for the challenge,” he said.

Moneni Pirates coach Caleb Ngwenya reflected on the journey his team has undertaken to reach the final. He praised his players for the hard work, ackweldging that they have a job to finish on Sunday.

“The boys are willing to complete the job and they have been working hard. We respect the opponents as they have played in many cup finals. We urge our supporters to come in their numbers on Sunday (tomorrow) to rally behind the team. This is a spectacle and it’s all about the boys,” he said.

Pirates captain Menzi Simelane concurred with his coach.
“The spirit amongst the players is very high. We understand what needs to be done, cometh the hour, we will deliver. The coaches have set the plan and we shall execute it. Big teams rise on the occasion and we are ready to lift the trophy.” he said.
