KWAKHE FLIES OUT

By XOLISILE SACOLO | 2025-01-31

SOCCER - AMBITIOUS side Nsingizini Hotspurs have scored a major coup by acquiring the signature of versatile defender Kwakhe Thwala.

The in-demand player has been snatched from Mbabane Swallows. The national team player, who joined the ‘Beautiful Birds’ from Young Buffaloes, has made a big move, leaving the Birds nest for ‘Insingizi Yezulu’.

Nsingizini Hotspurs officially unveiled the player on their social media platforms, welcoming him to the club. The player was wanted by a number of elite league sides, being Moneni Pirates, Young Buffaloes and Royal Leopard, among others.  Nsingizini have finalised talks with Swallows over the player's transfer.

Thwala will resume training with his new team and is eligible for selection when ‘Insingizi Yezulu’ take on Young Buffaloes this weekend. A source close to the matter revealed that Nsingizini Hotspurs paid E50 000 for the player’s transfer.

“The player could have left Swallows for free but at the end they got E50 000 from Nsingizini’s kind gesture. This was after the teams entered into negotiations.”

The source said the player was also made to withdraw his case from the Players’ Status Committee on Tuesday.

“He withdrew the case after the teams reached an agreement. He did appear before the PSC on Tuesday, where he told them that he was withdrawing the case as he had reported the team for breach of contract.”

The source said a number of teams were after the player’s signature, as some officials of a certain team were at Sigwaca House, as they thought the player would be declared a free agent.

“They were disappointed after learning that the player had gone there to withdraw the case because they were hoping to pounce if he was declared a free agent.” Moneni Pirates and Royal Leopard were also after Thwala’s signature. Nsingizini Hotspurs CEO Banele Ngobe expressed satisfaction with the manner the negotiations between the two clubs were conducted.

"We have just strengthened our defensive line-up with the signing of Thwala. He is a great player and we are happy to have him in the team.” Ngobe said Thwala would be introduced to the rest of the players today. In a video clip during his unveiling, the player said he was happy to join the team.

“Hello Nsingizini, this is Kwakhe Thwala, I am here now.
All those who wanted me to come here must know that I have arrived. I am just waiting to get inside the field of play and make you happy. I promise you that we will give you the desired results, thank you,” he said.
