Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini says Parliament and government now await an address from His Majesty King Mswati III that would give direction on how they should work this year.
The PM said this after getting an update on the preparations for the state opening of the second session of the 12th Parliament yesterday.
After taking part in the final rehearsals for the day, the PM said the Queen Mother and the king would be among them, urging people and the members of parliament keep time.
He said they should be punctual by not arriving after Their Majesties. He said people should be respectful and orderly.
He said the public does not have to push others to gain entry because doors are about to close.
Dlamini urged the attendees to respect the orders that have been issued in terms of dress code.
“Take out your best outfit, the one that has been kept at the bottom of your trunk or wear your traditional attire so that you can all look elegant on the day,” he said.
Dlamini added that people should be on their best behaviour, highlighting that there were some rules that they needed to follow while inside the chamber. He said this included that the MPs and delegates should not make noise, chew anything or use their cellphones. He said according to his observations, all was in place.
He emphasised respect urging the MPs, Cabinet ministers, principal secretaries, heads of the uniformed forces and other senior officers who would be present to put priorities first. He said Emaswati knows what respect means.
“There will be order inside the chamber and we need to make sure that everything gets finalised before Friday. We are expecting the speech from the throne that will show us the direction to take in our endeavours this year,” he said.
Speaker in the House of Assembly Jabulani Mabuza applauded the team that was responsible for the preparations for their dedication. He said they had also seen the dedication from the different security forces and every Liswati that has worked effortlessly towards the success of the event.
“We are only left with praying for the day to proceed well and also to remind people, especially those that have invitation cards, to respect guidance from the security personnel. We encourage punctuality so that all the proceedings can go smoothly,” he said.
