JC EXAMS KICK-OFF SMOOTHLY

By SIMANGA GAMEDZE | 2024-10-22

THE 2024 Junior Certificate (JC) examinations commenced yesterday on a positive note  according to the Examinations Council of Eswatini (ECESWA).

ECESWA Communications Officer Hlengiwe Ndlovu confirmed that day one of the examinations went smoothly, with no reported incidents across examination centres.

Over 16 879 candidates will be sitting for the examination countrywide.

The class of 2024 began their exams with Mathematics Paper one in the morning, followed by Religious Education Paper one in the afternoon.

“The Examinations Council of Eswatini wishes all candidates the best as they begin their exams.

‘‘We urge both centres and candidates to adhere strictly to examination rules and procedures throughout the exam period,” said Ndlovu.

The JC exams mark a significant milestone in the country's education system as pupils strive to secure the JC, which opens doors to further education and potential career paths.

For many pupils, this period is the culmination of years of hard work and preparation, with the hope of achieving success and moving on to higher levels of education.

As part of the council’s efforts to maintain fairness and integrity, ECESWA continues to emphasise the importance of exam regulations, including prohibitions on cheating and the need for punctuality.

Exam invigilators are stationed at every centre to ensure compliance with these rules.

A teacher at Tikhuba High School Sibusiso Maziya urged parents, teachers, and school administrators to support candidates during this crucial period.

“This is a stressful time for many of our learners, and they need all the emotional and academic support they can get,” Maziya said.

In the coming days, candidates will sit for other subjects, with the exams set to conclude on November 8. The last subjects will be History Paper Two and Design and Technology Paper One.

ECESWA will continue to monitor the process closely, ensuring that every centre operates in line with the council's standards.
