HIS Majesty King Mswati III has praised Emaswati students studying in various universities of Serbia for their good conduct and maintaining the true values of respect, which are central to the lives of every Liswati.
The king met the students at the Hyatt Regency Hotel here, accompanied by Liphovela Nomcebo Zuma, emazinyane, six cabinet ministers and delegation.
He encouraged them to continue being good ambassadors for the country, as by doing so it reflects positively for the Kingdom of Eswatini and gives it a good image globally.
“I have received valuable feedback from the President (Aleksandar Vucic) who is a good friend of Emaswati and he has assured me of doing everything in his power to support you and considers increasing the scholarship programme.
“I have also observed for myself as you passed before me, you have demonstrated that you have lost none of our cultural values and that you are still in touch with what is going on back home, which we commend,” the king said.
His Majesty said the students’ good conduct proved that they appreciate the opportunity they received to train in Serbia and hope others who would follow them would do the same.
“We also appreciate the support we received from the Serbian government who helped us to move some of you when trapped in the war in Ukraine. We are happy that you are still in one piece.
“Use productively the opportunity you have received and know that we are waiting for you when you are done with your studies.
“The Kingdom of Eswatini aims to achieve First World status, and we expect you to come back and hit the ground running.
“While we were here, we managed to visit some of their science and technology parks and I noted with interests that some of the courses you are doing are in that line, which means our future is indeed in safe hands,” the king said.
He also appreciated that in their meeting with him, the students invited some of their colleagues from the African continent, who were also given an opportunity to greet the king.
“As a country and the continent, we are in one accord to become a developed continent by the year 2063 and we hope the African Continent Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will promote intra-Africa trade.
“Africa must produce goods and services. We are counting on you to do that, having already learnt such experiences from countries that are already ahead of us. It will not help us to import goods to re-sell in the continent, we need to take charge of the means of production. We have heard that Serbia is a producer of some machinery and tools, which we look forward to you to lead its implementation,” he said.
The king said those students who have already finished their studies should come back home and they must announce their return by hitting the ground running, batsi Nkwe, to demonstrate their seriousness.
His Majesty encouraged the students to organise themselves by keeping a record of who was studying in Serbia and in which field.
The king encouraged them to also find time to report to him when they are done with their studies back home, so that they do not idle yet the country needed their skills.
“I have noted some of the challenges you have presented to me and government. I would like to encourage you to support and stand for each other as you are indeed far from the rest of your families. Make use of the embassy and keep them informed of what is going on.
“I am happy to note that in my first visit here I found you so many. This is a demonstration of the support and good relations that exists between the two countries.
“The countries have supported each other in difficult times and the president wants to do everything within their power to assist the kingdom realise its developmental objectives,” the King said.
