SOCCER - MTN Premier League 2022/23 season champions Green Mamba will report back to training on June 14 ahead of their CAF Champions League assignment.
This was announced by the team’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya yesterday who said the players and the technical bench were currently on break and they would be returning to start their CAF preparations
Sibiya distanced the team from having signed any new player yet, saying they were waiting for a final word from coaches if they will boost their squad.
“We will approach new players based on the coaches’ recommendations when we return for training in less than two weeks from now.
“We are still going to get a final report, everyone is still on leave after a hectic 2022/23 season,” he said.
After a few years without continental football, Green Mamba will return to the top of the continent’s club football under the mentorship of former Mbabane Highlanders head coach Earnest Mavuso.
The correctional side secured first place in the recently ended season to seal CAF Champions League slot ahead of capital city giants Mbabane Swallows who will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.
