THE second instalment of the House Musiq Fest was a huge success as approximately 1 000 revellers attended the event.
With over 20 local and international artists lined up, fun was guaranteed. Playing only house music, the artists served the finest deep, cid house, hip house, ghetto house, progressive house, tech house, electro house and music lovers could not help but dance the entire time.
The show reached its peak first when local deejay !Sooks took to the stage. House music fanatics moved closer to the stage as soon as MC PhD announced that the spinner was next.
He was amongst the first deejays to get the crowd dancing. Taking after him was MBO who also held up the standards.
However, when DJ Oscar Mbo took over the crowd began to fill up not just the dance floor but the entire venue.
Oscar Mbo also gave away his CD to fans that came to greet him after his set.
After Oscar’s deep set, spinner Fresh took over. The deejay had everyone on their feet. Playing for an hour, Fresh had the crowd bopping the heads throughout his set with a few screams here and there. The deejay also teased the crowd with different genres as he played ‘Fill me up’ by gospel singer Tasha Cobbs when he started. At the end of his set, he played deejay ‘Umlilo’ by DJ Zinhle. The crowd lost their minds but the deejay cut it short and bid everyone farewell.
The spinner said the crowd was undeniably one of the best house music fans he has ever seen. “You guys are just the best and clearly are house music fans and I enjoyed playing for you,” he said, before Sculptured Music took over. When Sculptured Music took over at around 2am, party lovers were still hyped up and ready to dance. Delivering a number of his songs such as ‘Sad to think,’ to ‘Speak Lord,’ the spinner had the crowd eating from the palm of his hand.
Taking over from him was DJ Christos, who was according to the crowd the most anticipated act of the night.
Speaking to some of the fans who waited for the DJ till 3:30am, they said their eagerness was because he hadn’t been in the country in two years.
The crowd did not start leaving the venue till after his set. The deejay did not only play the longest set of the entire night but he also had the crowd screaming for more. Unlike the first instalment of the festival, the second was strictly house music. From the first act which was Msakrie and Ipileng to Lomasoul, Slotta, Smish, Mistosoul and Crooks, all these deejays played only house music.
