SOCCER - Top Eswatini midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze has joined Mbombela United from Polokwane City.
Classified information sourced from impeccable sources within Mbombela United suggests that the Sihlangu midfielder maestro finalised negotiations with the Mpumalanga based side yesterday afternoon.
The former Manzini Sundowns and Jomo Cosmos player will reunite with fellow Eswatini players at Mbombela United in the likes of Felix Badernhost, Justice Figureido, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu. Another Swazi who is plying his trade with the side is former Mbabane Swallows and Sihlangu physical trainer Siyabonga Bhembe.
Sikhondze joins the Mpumalanga side after Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza was offloaded to capital city giants Mbabane Swallows.
Mbombela United Boss Oupa Matsebula could not be reached for comment as his cell phone was on voicemail when tried yesterday.
Sikhondze is expected to help Mbombela United change their fortunes in the Glada Africa Champions League where they currently sit third from the bottom with 13 points.
Sikhondze is likely to make his debut for the side in the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash against Cape Town City.
Mbombela will face Pretoria University at Kanyamazane Stadium at 30:30pm today.
