SOCCER - THE Eswatini Football Association (EFA) wrongfully cleared Manzini Wanderers player Leon Manyisa to Armenian side FC Van.
An International Transfer Certificate copy which this publication is in possession of indicates that the EFA through Ntombifuthi Rebecca Dlamini authorised the de registration of the player on August 29. The ITC was also delivered on the same date.
The player in question was on loan from Vovovo FC to Manzini Wanderers in the 2019/20 season. The conditions of the loan were that the player would be released to any team abroad in case offers came.
“We certify that in accordance with the provision of the FIFA regulations on status and transfer of the players, the player Manyisa Leon born on June, 3, 2001 formerly a member of Vovovo FC, having duly fulfilled his or her obligations both towards his former club and our association, is therefore free to pursue sports activities and register with another association affiliated to FIFA,” reads part of the ICT.
The document also states that Vovovo President Sipho Thulani Bhembe entered on loan agreement with Football Club Van represented by Executive Director G. Galstyan.
“Borrowing club is obliged to receive the player and conclude a term employment contract with him in the period from August, 24, 2019 to July, 01, 2021. The borrowing club is obliged to pay a fee to the player and other bonuses according to the order and terms of the particular contract.”
Possession
From the papers, it is clear that Manzini Wanderers were never consulted when the player was cleared to FC Van, hence were in possession of the player’s card.
When clearing the player, the FA used a 2018/19 deform instead of a current one. Vovovo (mother team) should have instructed Wanderers to clear the player as opposed to them clearing him right away.
At FC Van the player was registered as Manyisa Leon while at Wanderers he is Leon Manyisa with different dates of birth.
EFA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu is also said to have written a letter to the Protest and Disciplinary Committee indicating that the player was indeed cleared to FC Van.
This committee is a judicial body which acts based on evidence presented before it without any influence.
Meanwhile, the Protest and Disciplinary Committee chaired by Mayoyo Dlamini ruled in favour of Malanti Chiefs in the matter.
The Northern Hhohho-based outfit were awarded three points and three goals. The hub giants were also fined E5 000 for fielding a defaulter.
Manzini Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini said they were not pleased with the ruling of the DC and they would appeal the verdict within five days.
