CABINET OF CEOS

THE country’s new cabinet is not new to leadership as most of them boast rich leadership experience drawn from their previous work environments coupled with a good educational background.

From the head of government stretching to different ministries, a number of the new ministers occupied the chief executive officer (CEO) position if not director or general manager in thier previous positions.

The new cabinet has former MTN Eswatini CEO Ambrose Dlamini as the new Prime Minister, with former Montigny CEO Neal Rijkenberg as the new minister of finance. The new minister of commerce industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo is the former General Manager at The Coca-Cola Company, whilst the new Economic Planning and Development Minister Dr Tambo Gina occupied  the CEO post at Lidwala Insurance, having  made a name for himself at Swaziland Industrial Development Company Limited (SIDC) where he served for 13 years.

His Majesty’s appointments speak broadly into the direction the country needs to take towards achieving his 2022 vision towards a first world country. The newly-appointed  Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini comes with a rich CV from the corporate sector, which will not only boost the country’s economy but will give direction  to the county as proven in his previous office at MTN Eswatini.

Dlamini comes with experience in the CEO position as he held the title since 2003 and recorded numerous successes at his previous employment where he turned the organisation around. Whilst leading MTN Eswatini, Dlamini was able to introduce 3G network in the country in 2011 and  Mobile Money in the same year with Mobile money in circulation of E142 000 000 as at  October 30.

 As if that was enough, Dlamini, whilst at MTN, was able to turn the company into a leader in the mobile network space.

Furthermore, the former Montigny CEO Neal Rijkenberg has vast experience in finances.

In a recent report, it was revealed that Rijkenberg’s company recorded  E1.7 billion turnover drawn from a growth of E700 million per year. The Eswatini born Rijkenberg led a 100 per cent Eswatini owned company that provided employment to more than 5 000 people.

Appointment

Rijkenberg, before his appointment, was in the process of growing the company’s turnover by an additional half a billion Emalangeni per annum for the next two years, so that by 2020, the company was expected to have had a turnover in excess of E3.7 billion per year.

To add to the relevant appointments that are promising to turn the country’s economy around is new Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Khumalo, who is the former General Manager at The Coca-Cola Company.

Khumalo led an organisation that steered the pack in the export sector with a plant of 124 people that makes more than 400 gallons of concentrate and supplies more than 90 countries globally.

Transfer

The company is a global organisation that led volume transfer projects from Morocco and Nigeria into the Eswatini plant, which led to a 25 per cent business growth.

Amongst other appointments relevant to the growth of the country’s economy is former CEO at Lidwala Insurance Dr. Tambo Gina, who will be leading the economic planning and development ministry. Gina  also has plenty leadership experience having served as Chief Executive Officer for Swaziland Industrial Development Company Limited (SIDC) for 13 years.

He also worked for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development for 11 years in Geneva.

His other experience includes serving as Chairman of the Board of Eswatini's first insurance company for a period of 12 years; as well as being the founding Chairman of SKPE, now known as SWADE. He recently served as the Board  Chairman at Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications corporation (EPTC).
