By Xolisile Sacolo | 2025-03-12

Moneni Pirates Director Thulani Xaba has expressed his profound optimism for his team's future following their victory over Mbabane Swallows.

This was in the semi-finals of the Ingwenyama Cup on Monday.
Moneni Pirates triumphed in a gripping match that concluded with a dramatic 3-0 victory after penalty shootouts, securing their spot in the prestigious finals.
The director highlighted the importance of the Ingwenyama Cup as a crucial platform for the team. “Qualifying for the finals opens doors for us.

Our route to Africa starts here,” he added, illustrating the potential impact of a successful run in the tournament. "Pirates’ aim goes beyond just lifting the trophy; and we are eyeing participation in higher-level competitions, enhancing their reputation and experience in the continental front," he said.
Xaba believes reaching the final was not just a local achievement but represented a stepping stone towards greater ambitions, including a potential pathway to continental competition in Africa.
“I am happy that we made it through to the finals, but we haven't won yet, as the players need to maintain focus and determination for the final match ahead and we need to recapture the glory days of the team," said Xaba.
Xaba's enthusiasm was intense as he reflected on the team’s performance against the capital city giants.
The hard-fought victory against Swallows highlighted the resilience and skill of Pirates, setting the stage for what promises to be an exhilirating final.
Rallying
With the team rallying behind their ambitions, the director urged the players to connect the momentum and strive for excellence in the forthcoming challenge.
As Moneni Pirates gear up for the finals of the Ingwenyama Cup, all eyes will be on them not only to bring home the trophy but also to pave a way to the larger dreams that lay ahead in African football. It is all about wrapping up the job for the Buccaneers when they take on police side Royal Leopard in the finals of the Ingwenyama Cup, which carries a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup.
