NSINGIZINI TABLE OFFER FOR ‘KARAS’

By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2025-01-02

SOCCER- HE is on demand!
Ambitious Shiselweni-based side Nsingizini Hotspurs have tabled an offer to Mbabane Swallows for the services of their target Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula.

‘Karas’, who has been linked with a number of Premier League teams, is said to be a top target for coach Alexio Sigion, who wants to beef up the team upfront.

The former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows winger is among the ‘Birds’ players who are owed three months salaries following the financial woes in the club.

This also saw the team’s head coach, Caleb Ngwenya resigning, with their last payment received in September. And this was only half of their salaries.

Swallows’ acting President Absalom Ngwenya reportedly declared that the club had no funds to pay players. Ngwenya purportedly made this statement during a hearing at the Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Commission (CMAC) offices last month after the players had hauled the team to it.

According to a source close to the player, Magagula is also willing to join the Shiselweni-based ensemble and might sign a pre-contract this week.

“If all goes well, ‘Karas’ might sign a pre-contract with Nsingizini today. All will depend on negotiations between the two parties. He was supposed to meet Nsingizini yesterday, but the meeting was cancelled last minute.

“Coach Alexio Segion has made it clear to Nsingizini Hotspurs management that he wanted ‘Karas’ and they have now made an offer to the Birds.

They are now waiting for Swallows’to respond, as they wanted to do things professionally,” said the source. It is not clear at this stage how much Nsingizini offered for Magagula, but what is true is that the teams were engaged in talks over the winger’s services.

Karas was among the Sihlangu players who took part in the CHAN Qualifiers match against Madagascar, where they  secured a 1-0 win in Mauritius, which however could not help them as Sihlangu had earlier lost 0-2 in the first leg.

The lone goal was scored by Nsingizini Hotspurs striker Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane. Should Nsingizini secure the services of ‘Karas’, he will be joining former Manzini Wanderers midfielder Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini, who was snatched from the ‘Birds’ nest at the beginning of the season.

Nsingizini Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mnotfo Nkosi said he was not aware of anything pertaining the player but promised to get back as soon as he had sufficient information.
“I do not know anything. Let us wait and see if something happens. You will be updated accordingly,” he  said.
