SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Highlanders are set to suffer a big blow.
This is ahead of the January transfer window as the departure of skipper Philani Mkhonto and Kenneth Moloto is imminent.
Reports suggest that Mkhonto is on his way to join Manzini Sea Birds following a good offer he received before the start of the season.
Information gathered was that Sea Birds were pushing to register the player when the window opens in January 8.
It is understood that winger Moloto is also returning to his native country this week.
Embattled Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe confirmed the departure of the duo.
relationship
“I have a good relationship with Sea Birds. They called me last week and asked for Philani's clearance.
I can’t stop him since he hasn’t been paid for months. If I don’t release him, I’m afraid he could go to the Players Status Committee. As for Moloto he is coming back home,” he said.
Manzini Sea Birds Manager Sibusile ‘Zuma’ Mamba politely asked not to comment on the issue.
“The director is handling such issues of players' transfers. So I’m too junior to say anything regarding this issue,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mkhonto joined the crowd-pulling side three seasons ago from Hawane Shooting Stars. The Mbabane Highlanders skipper was spotted during the Ingwenyama Cup matches at Somhlolo National Stadium. He has scored crucial goals for the capital city giants.
joined
On the other hand, Moloto has contributed immensely to the team since he joined them from ABC Motsepe outfit Ally Tigers.
He announced his arrival in style in 2020 when his lone goal sent rivals Mbabane Swallows packing from the Ingwenyama Cup.
