CHIEF ALLY READY TO RELINQUISH POWER

By MELUSI MLOTSA | 2024-10-22

SOCCER - ALL is not well at capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders, as 'wanted out' Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe has reportedly said he was ready to step down.

The chief says he could handover the team to the National Supporters Committee (NSC) and the Chief Executive Officer Musa Masuku to run it.

Reports suggest that the Pretoria-based businessman has made the decision to relinquish his position due to the power struggle.

Information gathered is that Kgomongwe is at loggerheads with the NSC, emanating from the Admiral sponsorship deal that is now in limbo. Highlanders Public Relations Officer Kenneth Dlamini confirmed that they were having problems at the club.

“I cannot deny that we are having internal problems in the club that are threatening peace and stability. But we will unpack everything during a press conference scheduled for tomorrow (today) ,” he said. Kgomongwe also made it clear that he was stepping down because he was no longer wanted in the team.

“I know that some people do not want me in the team and I am ready to step down. It is only that there are a number of things to be considered before I step down. Otherwise, I am more than willing to give the team to Musa Masuku, Mfanzile Dlamini and Sihle Magagula to run it.”

He said all would be determined after today’s meeting with some of the team’s stakeholders but clarified that it was not true that he had resigned.

...‘Highlanders MD must give supporters what they want’

SOCCER - MBABANE Highlanders National Supporters Committee Chairman Mfanzile ‘Fash’ Dlamini says MD Ally Kgomongwe must just give them what they want.

“Firstly, I want to state it clear that no supporter invaded the training ground as our coach said during the post-match interview.

“What happened last week is that some supporters were at the training ground, they called me, the PRO and CEO to find out what was happening in the club. They also requested a meeting with our MD next weekend and we formally informed him. Actually, the supporters are concerned about the status quo in the club because as we speak we have nothing.  “I also got a call from Pretoria last week from our MD asking why supporters invaded the training session, which I denied.

“He told me that he was handing over the club to the NSC and CEO. What I can say is that Kgomongwe must give supporters what they want. We are where we are because of him. The supporters are also ready to welcome the team back, it’s where he found it,” he said.
