‘SIHLANGU TO START CHAN PREPS WITH ADDITIONAL PLAYERS’

By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2024-10-18

SOCCER - SIHLANGU Semnikati head coach Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic says the team will begin their preparations for the CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) clash against Zimbabwe after the league games on Saturday.

Joining them will be the additional players recently called up.
Eswatini will play against Zimbabwe in the first leg match at Orlando Stadium, SA, next Friday with the second leg taking place at Mbombela Stadium on November 1.

This game will commence at 7pm.
‘Loga’ said they needed an additional striker, defensive midfielder and central defenders.

“We will resume camp on Sunday (October 20) with a few new players because Lindo and Figuareido could not be in the CHAN squad. For sure there will be an extra goalkeeper,” he said.
The Eswatini national team yesterday returned from Mbombela, South Africa, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mambas of Mozambique in the return leg of their AFCON 2025 Qualifiers on Monday evening.

The TotalEnergies CAF CHAN  draw saw Eswatini positioned in pot two alongside the lower-ranked Namibia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho, while pot one features more esteemed teams from the Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA), including Madagascar, Mozambique, Angola and Zambia.

In CHAN, only players competing in domestic leagues are allowed to feature. Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Communications and Marketing Officer Muzi Radebe could not be drawn for comment as his number was not available on the network at the time of compiling this report.
