SHISELWENI NACAS ENCOURAGE ARTS, CULTURE

THE Shiselweni Regional National Arts and Culture Awards (NACAs) encouraged arts and culture to thrive, further rewarding creatives under different categories.

The awards took place yesterday morning at the REO offices in Nhlangano.
The ceremony saw performances from Shiselweni artists. Gospel artist Nhlangansio kick started the ceremony.

He was followed by Nhlangano-based poet Siwa, who recited a poem about Eswatini being restored to high standards, which got the crowd’s attention.
Buseleni Cultural Group showed off their skills through song and dance (sibhaca and ummiso) after also winning in the Sibhaca category.

Ministry Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Under Secretary Mzwandile Mthethwa said he was impressed by the Shiselweni region for their positive impact in arts.

He said events like this showed the work of the people of Eswatini from each region.
"I am proud to be from this region. I have worked here and i thank the region for making me the man i am today.

I am honoured to be standing on stage with such influential people in the country. I am proud of Shiselweni," he shared.  

NACAs Chairman Sipho Makhabane said he was thankful to the region for showing up and supporting all nominees. He said  events like this would happen more often and encouraged guests to continue watching the NACAs closely as the national award ceremony would follow the regional stages.

Nokuthula Dlamini said the ceremony was wonderful to experience.

She added that she would like to see the inclusion of people with disabilities in future.
“Today's experience has been eye opening. The talent and influence of arts and culture is huge and I commend ENCAC and the NACAs for the return of the awards.

“I would just like to ask that we have people with disabilities at such events. They are human like us and they have talent. It would be wonderful to include them in such programmes,” said Dlamini shared.

Station Commander in Nhlangano Dumisile Simelane said the NACAs were encouraging to the nation. Simelane explained that it assisted people understand arts and culture in a more positive manner.

"Money must be put into arts and culture.  we must invest in the sector to continue the development of arts and storytelling of our own history," Simelane said.

The Shiselweni regional NACA ceremony was a hit among guests   who stated that they were going to win at the national awards in December.

Menzi Kunene of Izigi Zendoda Investments was so inspired by the proceedings of the ceremony he pledged to donate E1 000 to assist winners in the region prepare for the national stage of the NACAs.
