KING CALLS FOR URGENT FILLING OF 22 NGWANE COLLEGE VACANCIES

By Musa Simelane | 2024-09-22

In a move reflecting the spirit of Nkwe, which is a traditional principle of swift action, His Majesty King Mswati III has called for the urgent filling of 22 lecturer positions at Ngwane Teachers Training College.

This was during the 38th graduation ceremony of the college in Nhlangano, Shiselweni region yesterday.

The king was responding to the Principal of the College, Celiwe Khumalo’s call for assistance so that the institution can operate at its optimum.

“I heard very well the college principal’s report that there are 22 vacancies that have not been filled for a long time. Because she has pointed out this challenge today in this ceremony, I want to say that even the heavens have heard her,” said His Majesty.

He  added that, “and now that she has been heard, next week, she must to sit down and have a meeting of minds to see how these positions are quickly filled,” he added, much to the appreciation and ululation of joy from those who attended of the event.

The king’s directive underscores his commitment to advancing the nation’s educational system and ensuring that institutions were adequately equipped to meet the needs of the students.

This call for immediate action aligns with the values of Nkwe, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility and rapid response in addressing national challenges.

His Majesty said he was impressed to note that the college was on a growth path with iconic infrastructure that contributed to the beauty of its landscape.

He recalled that a few years ago he blessed two magnificent structures, and was excited that yet again he would commission yet another state-of-the-art building for the academic staff.  The king encouraged the graduates to embrace their roles as teachers with enthusiasm and devotion.

“Teaching is more than just a job; it is a calling. You possess the ability to mold the minds and destinies of young people.

As you enter our nation's schools, remember the ideals established in you here: discipline, respect, and a commitment to excellence.

‘‘Your journey has only just begun,” he stated. He said the knowledge they have received would be beneficial, but their integrity and heart was what would truly determine their effect as teachers.

He pointed out that Eswatini requires teachers who were not just competent, but also sensitive and dedicated to the growth of children.

The king also urged them to use their recently acquired information and skills acquired to help the country grow, no matter where they are stationed. It is their opportunity to play their part.
He said they should go ahead and make a difference in the world by engaging in honourable activities that they would be proud of.

“Now that you are professional educators, you should be always motivated to grow, improve and maintain the country's high educational standards,” he said.
