EXCITEMENT, TRIUMPH AT NGWANE TEACHERS COLLEGE GRADUATION

By Musa Simelane | 2024-09-22

Despite the cold and rain, 203 determined graduates from Ngwane Teachers Training College proudly gathered to receive their diplomas in a graduation ceremony filled with excitement and triumph.

Defying the inclement weather conditions that were at their poorest in Nhlangano, the students, adorned in gowns and looked immaculate, celebrated the culmination of their different academic journeys within the teaching profession.

The ceremony which was in its 38th year was graced by His Majesty King Mswati III and other dignitaries. It was a testament to their resilience, hard work and dedication, marking a significant milestone in their lives.

Families, friends and relatives, too, braved the chilly weather to witness the momentous occasion that honoured the achievements of their loved ones and also mark the beginning of the next chapter of their lives.

The event officially started late  after the arrival of His Majesty at 3pm, but all proceedings went withon a glitch.

An atmosphere of excitement enveloped the outdoor venue within the premises of the college as soon as the King stepped onto the scene preceded by Emakhosikati.

Even the College Principal Celiwe Khumalo and Minister of Education Owen Nxumalo could hardly contain their joy as they were jovial when delivering their remarks.

Prior to the arrival of His Majesty, the attendants of the event were treated to some entertaining performances of cultural dances and martial arts acrobatics by students from Amitofo Care Centre in Nhlangano.

The college choir also rendered a beautiful performance. In between performance groups, His Majesty’s Correctional Services brass band kept everyone warm with their excellent rendition of songs.

His Majesty the King in his early remarks congratulated the students for their achievements and even said the weather was actually a blessing that they will never forget for many years.
Because he was mindful of their cold weather, he instructed that the graduation proceedings should be slightly altered.

Instead of each student walking up to take a bow before getting their award, they stood in groups according to their academic discipline, told to wear their academic stoles and then bow before the King.

This proved to shorten the time of this proceeding which normally takes an hour or so. His Majesty also took his time to inspect and officially open the institution’s new office complex and  even planted a tree in the front yard.
