POPULAR party venue Mega Lounge is officially back after being closed for some time.
This was confirmed by well-known DJ Zulu D, who recently hosted his annual birthday party at Siphofaneni.
Part of the reason for the closure of Mega Lounge is that they wanted to do some renovations, and revamp their venue to make it more comfortable for their patrons. Unfortunately, more complications arose during the period they were not operating in relation to the business’s trade and liquor licensing. “One of the reasons that Mega was closed was for renovations. We wanted to revamp inside, especially the bathrooms.
“The bathrooms were old and needed to be worked on. Another reason that the lounge was closed is because we have been waiting for a renewed liquor licence. The board members who renew liquor licences had not met yet, but eventually they met and we were able to go forward with the process of renewing our licence,” Zulu D explained.
The Mega Lounge team announced their return to the entertainment scene through a social media post which promotes the event they are set to host on Friday.
“It’s a good feeling to be back. We are excited to be back in business. It’s been a long wait and everywhere we would go, people would constantly ask why we have been closed and that was draining for us because we have also been stressed about getting Mega Lounge open again. We are back and sijabulile,” he shared. Zulu D explained that the void was felt by everyone since the venue closed.
“It hasn’t been easy for the team, their loyal fans or their DJs, and most people have been patiently waiting for the return of the popular venue as well.
“A number of people felt the absence of Mega Lounge. Most of the team, our resident DJs have been in Manzini and people had to follow us to the various shows to see their favourite DJs. It hurt because they knew they could find us at Mega Lounge, so everyone seems to be very happy that we have opened again,” Zulu D further explained.
Mega Lounge will have a welcome back party with most of their resident DJs set to perform. These DJs include Sgitha, Zulu D, The Bishops, DJ Mbo, Lady Zee, The Prefect, Mathamza, De Wolf and Rekorder.
The Mega Lounge intends to have a big event in June, but is still coordinating and organising the show. They are currently in the process of booking artists they will host.
