Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has said the country is deeply committed to safeguard its sovereignty, as much as it is eager to enhance international relations.
He was speaking during fruitful bilateral talks with the Republic of Belarus Prime Minister, Roman Golovchenko at the Government House in Minsk, Belarus yesterday.
Dlamini said there was great potential for collaboration and mutual growth between the two nations, and his working visit would serve as a precursor to deepened and meaningful ties between the two nations.
The PM jetted out of the country on Monday, accompanied by Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe and Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka. The two ministers will also have meetings with their counterparts.
He also said the partnerships, including the one they sought to build with Belarus, must respect and uphold Eswatini’s independence and autonomy.
Dlamini noted that the country was interested in establishing sustainable relationships that offered mutual benefit for both countries, envisioning a partnership where both parties can thrive and grow together.
He also noted that the country had no enemies, prided itself in maintaining friendly relations with offer countries. He said the country’s philosophy was built on peace, mutual respect and cooperation. Clarifying, he said Eswatini wasn’t seeking handouts from Belarus, but was interested in establishing sustainable relationships that offered mutual benefit for both countries, envisioning a partnership where both parties can thrive and grow together.
“At the outset, allow me to emphasise that the Kingdom of Eswatini has no enemies. We are a nation that prides itself on maintaining friendly relations with all countries. Our philosophy is built on peace, mutual respect and cooperation. It is in this vein that we cherish and are looking to grow our burgeoning relations with the Republic of Belarus.
“While we are eager to enhance our international relations, I must stress that Eswatini is deeply committed to safeguarding our sovereignty.
Our partnerships, including the one we seek to build with Belarus, must respect and uphold our independence and autonomy,” he said.
