IMBALI BRAVE COLD, THRILL AT SHISELWENI REED DANCE

By Correctional Wheel | 2024-09-28

Imbali from His Majesty’s Correctional Services joined throngs of maidens from the country and neighbouring South Africa, who braved the cold weather to celebrate the Shiselweni Reed Dance ceremony with Their Majesties.

The event was held at Mbangweni Royal Residence in Nhlangano over the past weekend.

On Saturday, the weather was cold with drizzle, but the maidens braved through and successfully delivered the reed. Sunday’s weather was much better and the maidens danced cheerfully in front of Their Majesties.

HMCS Imbali made another wonderful and colourful display, following up on splendid performance they displayed during the main Umhlanga ceremony held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence about three weeks ago.

The ecstatic HMCS regiment was a marvel to watch as they were flaunting their creative combination of dance and songs, electrifying the arena and bringing it to a standstill.

As they marched past Their Majesties, there were loud screams as the audience ululated and applauded the regiment for their splendid display.

Correctional Services Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini said it was heart warming to see the department’s Imbali thrilled by what they were doing as Emaswati which really showed that they were respectful to the Eswatini culture,  an indication that they uphold Eswatini values.

She said she really appreciated their commitment and dedication to national and cultural events.
