‘STOP BULLYING US’

By MGCINI DUBE | 2024-04-23

SOCCER - ARE they a target for being trendsetters?

Following the movie-like scene, where ambitious Shiselweni-based side Nsingizini Hotspurs made history by entering the stadium in a state-of-the-art coach, at first being denied entry but later allowed inside, their mouthpiece Mnotfo Dlamini says teams should stop bullying them during games.

Dlamini revealed yesterday morning during the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services Radio Sports Show. During the live programme, Dlamini expressed his disappointment over the ill-treatment they got during games.

A recent incident saw the high-flying green and white ensemble locked out of the King Sobhuza II Stadium over the weekend. They had a date with sworn-rivals Rangers, where they eventually won the game 1-0 to record five wins in a row.  “Such behaviour is not acceptable; I don’t see the reason why we were deprived of entry to the stadium on time. We arrived at the gate on time, only to access the stadium 40 minutes before the game, yet we needed more time to settle down and do our warm-up session and other procedures that should be followed before the match. The team directors were surprised on arrival only to find the team stuck outside the venue.”

Pleaded

The former Tambankulu Callies outspoken mouthpiece pleaded with the relevant personnel to ensure that they stopped such unbecoming behaviour.

He said this was just a sport that promoted good relations among players and fans alike.

“Sadly, this is not the first time we receive such treatment during games and I don’t understand the reason behind it.

“It was the same story even when we played against Mbabane Swallows in the MoMo Cup finals last year and also at Ka-Langa in our match against Manzini Wanderers. It's time this thing stops as we are a full team that deserves respect, just like any other team in the league,” he berated.

'Insingizi Yezulu', as they are affectionately known, made a head-turning arrival with the Millys Logistics double decker Macropolo bus at King Sobhuza II Stadium.

They will host sugarbelt side Illovo in their next league assignment.
