DEEPLY INFLUENCED BY HER MOTHER'S SKILLS

By Whats Your Hustle | 2024-05-04

Introducing to you Nosimilo Nkambule from Giligane, who shares that  the oven's warmth is not just for baking, but for rekindling memories, unearthing flavours, and ultimately, piecing together a story that's one delicious bite at a time.

Prepare to be swept away by a tale of resilience, passion, and the transformative power of baking.

Nkambule was inspired to pursue a career in baking by her mother. She learned the art of baking from her, who was known for her delicious bread. Her mother's talent and passion for baking ignited a love for the craft in Nkambule at a young age. She was deeply influenced by her mother's skills and the joy that her baked goods brought to the family.

This influence led her to pursue a career in baking, hoping to continue with the tradition and share the love of baking with her community. As a result, Nosimilo's strong family connection and the joy of creating and sharing delicious treats inspired her to follow her passion and her mother’s footsteps.

“I remember my mother used to bake bread on Sunday mornings and the smell of the bread gave me happiness.

And over and above that, I can attest that the saying food brings people together is true.  This was visible as my mother’s baking brought that to my family, which inspired me to develop the love of baking so I can bring happiness and unity to other families in the kingdom of Eswatini, ‘Nkambule said.

There are many delicious rewards to be reaped from sharpening your baking skills and Nkambule shared that she has done that through Cake Baking Eswatini, who have mentors with the latest baking techniques.

“Sharpening your baking skills is not just about making good cakes and all, it’s about unlocking a world of possibilities, creativity, and personal growth. It allows you to elevate your craft, impress customers, build a successful and fulfilling career in the world of baking. And I would love to thank Cake Baking Eswatini for making sure that is possible” she said.

Nkambule was quizzed on what trends in baking she has incorporated into her baking and why, she said that she has been experimenting with gluten-free alternatives to cater to the growing demand for such products.

And her reasoning is because food trends reflect changing consumer preferences and keeping an eye on trends allows bakers to offer what customers are looking for and attracting a wider audience as well as keeping their business relevant.

She further said trendy baked goods are more likely to be shared on social media, generating excitement and attracting new customers through online exposure.

In every industry there are challenges involved and bakers throughout history have faced a variety of challenges, from mastering the art of fire control to adapting to changing ingredients and consumer preferences.

And as a way of overcoming challenges like a recipe not turning out the way it is supposed to making a mistake that then spoils  entire batch of cookies, she said what helped is practicing, dedication and the Cake Baking Eswatini community who have  helped her improved.

With an experience over two years Nkambule has been able to complete her  professional course from Cake Baking Eswatini.
