Zondwako voters expressed delight over the election of their Member of Parliament Petros Mavimbela as the new parliament’s Speaker.
Mavimbela replaced former Speaker Themba Msibi whom he was nominated with for the position.
Mavimbela won with a convincing 42 against 27 votes attained by Msibi when the election of Speaker was held last week Thursday in Parliament.
In different interviews with some of the voters at Zondwako where Mavimbela hails from, they said it is a great honour to have their MP entrusted with such a huge responsibility.
All the people interviewed had great things to say about their MP, who doubles up as Indvuna of the royal kraal describing him as a humble man who has the people’s interests at heart.
They stated that it came as no surprise to them to see him nominated and eventually winning the elections to be Speaker as he was made for the duty given that he is Indvuna in his area and he carries that responsibility perfectly. However, some were skeptical on the responsibility handed to Mavimbela stating that it could somehow put brakes to community development projects as he applies balance between the two responsibilities.
