SIHLANGU BEGIN EGYPT PREPS OCTOBER 1

By Sabelo Gwebu | 2018-09-22

SOCCER – In readiness of mammoth back-to-back matches against Egypt, Sihlangu will begin their preparations after next weekend.

Anthony Mdluli-led Sihlangu travel to Cairo for the 2019 AFCON qualifier slated for October 12 at Al Salam Stadium before the return match four days later at Mavuso Sports Centre.

Egypt coach Javier Aguirre is not taking the game lightly after naming 12 overseas-based players for the match, including sensational striker Mohammed Salah of English Premier League giants Liverpool, Ahmed Hegazi of West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny, among others.

“The full details of the camp are yet to be communicated but preparations for the games begin in earnest after next weekend,” said Football Association Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe.

It will cost the FA an arm and a leg to send Sihlangu to Cairo, Egypt, with flight tickets at E476 091 for at least a 27-men delegation. A flight on Premium Economy using Alitalia, via Italy, cost E17 633 per head while an Economy flight with one stop in Ethiopia can cost as low as E6 067 with First Class on Fly Emirates, going up to E50 768.

After the back-to-back Egypt matches, Sihlangu host bottom loggers Niger on November 16 before travelling to Tunis, Tunisia, for their last match to determine a slot in the AFCON finals to be staged in Cameroon.
