OVER 500 ARTISTS REGISTERED WITH SWAMA THUS FAR

By Ayanda Dlamini | 2018-08-16

More and more artists are registering with Eswatini Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) everyday.

Within a year since the new SWAMA executive took office, over 500 artists have registered with the association.

This was revealed by the SWAMA President Melusi ‘ Zox’ Dlamini yesterday.  Dlamini said everyday, a new artist was registering with the association.

“More and more artists are registering with us every day.  We have met different kind of artists as our door is open to all; from poets, musicians to comedians. We have over 500 artists registered with SWAMA presently,” he said.

Dlamini noted that even artists who specialise in gospel genre were welcome to register with them as they have an agreement with Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA).

“Gospel artists can register with us as well even if they are registered with ACASWA. It’s not a problem. Everyone is welcome. So far we do have gospel artists registered with us. We have mostly the western music gospel artists,” Dlamini said.

Worth noting is that the number of artists registering with SWAMA  presently when the new  executive  suspended  the  subscription fee  which was E200  over the past years and now it is free for all.

According to Dlamini, this move was meant to increase membership and afford every artist a fair opportunity to join the country’s biggest and oldest arts association. Membership is still open to all musicians, producers, composers, artists’ managers, dancers, comedians, among all other forms of arts, as well as interested individuals.
