FNB DONATES E34 000 TO THREE SPORTING EVENTS

By Sibongiseni Zondi and Bahle Gama | 2018-06-19

SPORTS - BANKING giants FNB yesterday donated a total of E34 000 towards three different sporting events.

The donations were officially handed out at FNB’s headquarters in Mbabane yesterday morning. The Rotary Club of Matsapha received E2 000 for their golf day which was held over the past weekend.

Ngwenya Glass were the biggest recipients, receiving E20 000 for the Mountain Bike Challenge they will host on July 7. Meanwhile, the Nomads Golf Club received E12 000 for their golf tournament which they will host late this year. Speaking during the official handover of the cheques yesterday, FNB Chief Risk Officer Nosikhumbuzo Nxumalo said the donations were part of the bank’s way of giving back to the community.

“These organisations have values which are aligned to those of FNB thus the donations. We are happy to be partnering with them and we encourage that they should continue with what they are doing,” Nxumalo said.

Meanwhile, Gary Hayter of  Ngwenya Glass thanked FNB for the donation and said it would go a long way in helping them host a successful challenge in July.

“This is great and we are thankful to FNB. Our event is purely for charity and it is not for commercial gain. All the proceeds go to Cheshire Homes so this donation will help us in hosting the tournament,” Hayter said.

FNB also donated E5 000 to the Swaziland Animal Welfare yesterday, taking their total donation to E39 000 on the day.
