MDURA’S ‘MTK’ SEASON 2 TO BE SHOT IN THE COUNTRY

By Simon Shabangu | 2018-04-24

SEASON two of DStv’s ‘Meet the Khambules’ (MTK) sitcom will be shot in the Kingdom of Eswatini, the executive producer Zamo Massie has confirmed.

This was announced by the producer of the Zulu comedy which features local comedian Mdura. This was during the launch and preview of the sitcom at the Swaziland Theatre Club on Sunday evening.

The first episode will premier on May 29 on Moja Love, DStv, channel 157.

This is the first TV channel to be owned and managed by indigenous South African people according to Massie.

She urged people to support this channel and generate more numbers in viewership, something which she said would sustain the station and keep it on the DStv platform.

“Meet The Khambules will be on your screens on the stated dates and I must say that a lot of work has been done since the shooting of season one.

I am happy to announce that we will soon be starting the shooting of the second season where locals will also play a part since half of the second season will be shot in the kingdom,” she said.

She urged locals to also support this new channel since this is the first channel to be owned and managed by indigenous investors.

SWAMA President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini stated that the country was multi-talented, noting that it was a proud moment to see one of the local products getting a slot in such a big stage. He said it was exciting news that part of the season two would be shot in the country, noting that this would be an opportunity to showcase the beauty of the country as well as the huge talent here.

He also congratulated Mdura for making it to the cast.

“We are happy for Mdura and wish him all the best in this project. I hope that the doors opening up for you will remain open so that more local artists can have the opportunity to showcase their talents in such important and big stages.

We are also excited that the producers of this programme can identify and use local talent. Swaziland is rich with different talents and when one of us gets such a huge opportunity, we must support them and ensure they become a success story because they are now representing the kingdom,” he said.
