SOCCER- ROYAL Leopard striker Barry Steenkamp has his eyes fixed on winning the 2018 SwaziBank Cup top goalscorer award.
Steenkamp’s brace during his side’s 2-0 win over Tambuti in the last 16 this Saturday took his tally of goals in the competition to four.
The forward also scored twice when his side thrashed Amalanda 7 - 0 in the opening round last month. Interviewed on Monday, Steenkamp said he was happy to be leading the scorers’ charts.
“It’s good to be leading the goals charts. It shows that we are working as a team and that I’m also putting in the work individually. If I continue working hard I believe I have a good chance of going on to win the top goalscorer prize. I just need to work hard and continue to score goals,” the striker said.
Steenkamp then declared that his side was ready to face any team in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
“We have a chance to win the SwaziBank Cup but it all depends on how much work we put in. We will welcome any side that we are drawn with in the quarterfinals. We will accept anyone, we are ready for any side,” Steenkamp said.
Steenkamp’s Leopard are also due to play Mbabane Swallows in the final of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup on March 25.
