Families of the eight accident victims expressed gratitude to the Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) for its financial support.
The company spent E120 000 with each affected family getting E15 000 and the management of SEC visited all the families to express their condolences. Family representatives were given a chance to say a few words during the mass prayer service held yesterday in honour of the accident victims where a truck from SEC collided with a kombi. Six people died on the spot while the two others died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
Most of the family representatives at the prayer service spoke highly of SEC and they were thankful to everyone that contributed to the families. “We are thankful to the companies and individuals, particularly SEC, and all those who contributed to the families. May the spirit of giving continue even to other families who will be in the same situation as ours,” said one family member.
Pastor Mathabela of Nkhaba church in Zion, shared the word of God during the service, where he emphasised that people should not point fingers and pin the blame on someone else but in times like these, it calls for them to come together and be a unit, deal with the situation in a holy manner. SEC representative Luke Mswane, who was representing the company’s Managing Director Meshack Kunene, passed condolences to the families, friends and the entire nation.
“This is the first time that we have a deadly accident involving a vehicle from the company and we are still in shock. We pass our condolences to the families, may God be with you in this dark hour and give you solace,” he said.
