SOCCER – SWAZI Mobile has once again lived up to their promise of developing the sporting and cultural industry in the country as they have sponsored E40 000 towards free entry for tomorrow’s CAF Champions League match pitting Mbabane Swallows and Basotho side Bantu FC.
This was announced yesterday during a press briefing held at the company’s headquarters in Mbabane yesterday.
Speaking during the briefing, Swazi Mobile Corporate Communications Manager Macford Sibandze said the company was committed to living up to their promise of aiding the sporting and cultural fraternity.
“As a company, we made a commitment to the nation to aid in sports and culture and that’s exactly what we are doing. We are aware of the administrative cost that comes with the CAF games.
“It is not the first time for the company to do this for Swallows, and we can proudly say it worked well last year because the team claimed one of their most historic wins, in particular the one against Platinum Stars.
We would like to urge Swallows to continue raising the Swazi flag high, and we promise to be with them in every step of the way.”
Meanwhile, Chief Technical Officer Wandile Mtshali said amongst other reasons, the company was pleased to sponsor football and push the legacy of their late Executive Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze.
“We want to push the legacy of our late chairman and at the same time play our corporate social responsibility.
Football unites people and we also do understand it is not easy mobilising fans yet they are very important, this is why we are supporting our CAF envoys,” he said. Mbabane Swallows General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2 000’ Zwane thanked the company for the sponsorship.
“This will go a long way in motivating the players. It is sponsorships like this one that see the team performing well.”
The competition starts at 6am today and will end tonight at 8pm and for those who will be unsuccessful they will have to pay the E40 entry fee to at gate.
Fans will have to SMS 2220 to 7901 0079 and, thereafter, they will receive an SMS response which they will approve with their ID numbers on match-day.
This is not the first time the company has donated free tickets to football fans as they spent about E600 000 to allow 10 000 free entry to the CAF Confederation Cup Group stage encounter pitting Mbabane Swallows against MC Algeria of Algeria. The company has also sponsored 7 000 tickets for the team’s clash against South Africa’s Platinum Stars where the local giants emerged victorious with a 4-2 score.
