The second day of the Buganu Festival at Hlane Royal Residence was nothing short of spectacular, with Princess Sikhanyiso once again stealing the show with her electrifying dance moves.
Thousands gathered to witness the vibrant cultural display, with the princess’ kutsamba performance quickly going viral on social media, drawing widespread praise for its energy and creativity.
Princess Sikhanyiso was not alone in captivating the audience. Princess Temaswati, Emakhosikati LaNgangaza, and LaMahlangu also delivered impressive performances, adding to the spectacle of the day.
It was, however, Princess Sikhanyiso’s command of the moment and intricate dance sequences that left attendees in awe, reinforcing her reputation as a standout performer at the annual festival.
The ceremony, attended by His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, saw thousands of Lutsango in traditional attire engaging in spirited dancing and singing.
Dignitaries, cabinet ministers and members of the public, including tourists, joined in celebrating the cultural heritage of Eswatini.
As the night progressed, many anticipated the traditional closing speeches from Their Majesties, which usually signal the end of the festival before umkhandlo.
In an unexpected turn of events for many, it was announced that umkhandlo would instead take place today, extending the celebrations by another day and granting Lutsango an additional opportunity to showcase their dancing skills at Hlane.
Adding to the significance of this year’s festival, His Majesty recently declared a major shift in the national holiday calendar.
For the first time, the Monday following the second leg of the Buganu Festival at Hlane will be recognised as a public holiday.
This change replaces the previous national holiday on July 22, which marked the birthday of King Sobhuza II.
The new structure, His Majesty said, ensures that citizens can fully participate in the ceremony while honouring the nation’s cultural traditions.
With another day of festivities ahead, anticipation remains high as the Lutsango prepares for an extended celebration, marking a historic moment in the country’s cultural calendar.
