SOCCER - WANT-AWAY Mbabane Swallows left-back Siphosethu Mabilisa will have to wait for the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Player Status Committee (PSC) to deliver its written judgment on his case, while former Mbabane Highlanders captain Philani Mkhonto has been cleared to join his new club.
Mabilisa appeared before the PSC at Sigwaca House yesterday for his hearing.
After both sides presented their arguments, Mbabane Swallows opted not to hear the verdict when it was ready to be delivered.
As a result, Mabilisa must now await his legal representative’s notification once the EFA PSC issues the written ruling.
The left-back lodged a complaint with the PSC, seeking his clearance on grounds that Swallows failed to meet their contractual obligations.
This included the club's failure to pay his salary for three months and to date was owed approximately E30 000 in wages.
Expressed
Mabilisa confirmed that the hearing had taken place and expressed hope for a swift resolution.
“My legal representative said the judgment should be out no later than Monday, and I hope this matter can be resolved as soon as possible,” he said.
Mabilisa has been absent from the Swallows squad for the past two weeks after tendering his resignation.
In contrast, former Mbabane Highlanders captain Philani Mkhonto had a smoother process.
His transfer to Manzini Sea Birds was finally approved after Mbabane Highlanders failed to appear for the hearing.
Manzini Sea Birds Governor Sicelo Mkhonta confirmed that the player had been cleared to join the team and would be available for their match against Nkwene Sundowns at King Sobhuza II Stadium tomorrow.
“We managed to resolve the matter amicably with his former team before coming to the PSC, which is why they did not attend the hearing,” Mkhonta explained.
