As the Cabinet embarks on its retreat, Business Eswatini (BE) has extended its best wishes for a productive week of deliberations. CEO E. Nathi Dlamini emphasised the need for frank and candid discussions on the pressing challenges facing the nation. "While we encourage ambitious targets, it's crucial to acknowledge the current fiscal constraints due to lower-than-expected SACU receipts. Spending must be aligned with available resources, ensuring fiscal prudence," he said. He highlighted job creation as the paramount issue. “Unemployment remains a major concern. We urge the Cabinet to explore innovative ways to incentivise private sector investment and stimulate job growth,” he said. Furthermore, Dlamini emphasised the importance of embracing technological advancements. “The Fourth Industrial Revolution presents both challenges and opportunities. Investing in ICT infrastructure and developing a skilled workforce in this area is crucial for the country's long-term competitiveness,” he said.Dlamini also urged the Cabinet to prioritise fiscal responsibility and exercise caution in embarking on large-scale projects. “A pragmatic and realistic approach is essential. We must avoid embarking on projects that exceed our financial capacity,” he said. Improving the ease of doing business was another key area of focus. “While progress has been made, further streamlining processes, particularly in obtaining work permits for foreign talent, is crucial to attract and retain investors,” the CEO emphasised. Finally, Dlamini stressed the importance of addressing the public health challenges facing the nation. “We urge the Cabinet to engage in constructive dialogue and find effective solutions to improve the health and well-being of our citizens. A strong and focused Cabinet is essential for the overall prosperity of the nation, including the private sector,” said Dlamini.
