SOCCER- Sihlangu Semnikati head coach Zdravko Logaruši? has declared his team’s determination to rewrite history as they face Madagascar in the opening round of the CHAN Qualifiers this evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium, South Africa.
In what promises to be an intense encounter, Logaruši? emphasised the importance of starting strong, stating that a positive result in the first leg would provide a critical advantage heading into the second round.
“This is the kind of game where we must work collectively to achieve good results,” said the former Zimbabwe coach. “We respect Madagascar as opponents, but once we are on the pitch, it’s all about going for the kill. The past is behind us, and we are focused on writing a new chapter in Eswatini football history,” he said.
Logaruši? highlighted the depth and balance of his squad, expressing confidence in the combination of experienced players and rising talent.
The inclusion of seasoned campaigners like Felix Badenhorst, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and Junior Magagula was a key factor in his game plan.
“Felix has played on bigger stages under high-pressure situations, so this will be manageable for him. Alongside players like Sikhali and Junior, who know how to rise to the occasion, we have a team capable of delivering.
We’re ready to make the country proud,” he said. He also called on supporters to rally behind the team, stressing the importance of national unity and encouragement for the players.
Madagascar head coach Romuald ‘Roro’ Rakotondrabe whose team remains largely unknown due to a new squad, expressed equal determination to secure a win.
“We want to decrease the pressure going into the second round at home. Preparing for Eswatini has been challenging because they are somewhat of a closed book, but I trust my players to deliver,” he remarked.
As kick-off approaches, the anticipation and excitement among Eswatini football fans continue to build. Sihlangu’s commitment to overcoming past challenges and striving for success on the continental stage has galvanised national pride and support.
The match represents more than just a football game—it is an opportunity for Sihlangu Semnikati to prove their mettle and inspire a nation. Fans across the country will be glued to their screens, cheering for a historic performance that could bring glory to Eswatini.
