SOCCER - THREE MTN Premier League clubs Young Buffaloes, Royal Leopard, and Mbabane Highlanders have been handed hefty fines following punitive hearings conducted by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC).
The hearings, chaired by Thulani Sibandze, took place on Tuesday evening at Sigwaca House.
Young Buffaloes received the largest fine of E40 000 after being found guilty of misconduct during their match against Green Mamba.
The incident involved allegations that team officials and a player assaulted a ball boy from the opposing team following their 0-1 defeat.
Royal Leopard were handed a fine of E15 000 after their head coach Edwin Matsebula was accused of pushing two match officials during a match.

The disciplinary committee emphasised the importance of respecting match officials to maintain order on the field.
Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders were fined E20 000 for an incident during their game against Madlenya. Disgruntled club officials invaded the pitch after the final whistle, leading to chaos, thus breaching league regulations.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) acting CEO Petros ‘Pat’ Vilakati confirmed that some teams had appeared before the DC but refrained from specifying the fines until official documentation was received.
“I am waiting for a written document from the DC which clearly states who was fined and how much,” he said.
These fines highlight the league’s commitment to upholding discipline and professionalism. The incidents have sparked discussions among football stakeholders about the need for good conduct and stricter adherence to league regulations.
