Soccer – Nsingizini Hotspurs closed out the year in style with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mbabane Highlanders in an MTN Premier League clash at King Sobhuza II Stadium.

The Shiselweni-based outfit started the match strongly, determined to set the pace. Dominating the midfield, Yekisizwe ‘Yeki’ Khumalo and Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini orchestrated their team’s play with composure.

Despite creating early pressure, clear-cut chances were hard to come by as Highlanders goalkeeper Bhekisisa Dlamini denied several efforts from Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane.
Nsingizini broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when ‘Masoso’ threaded a sublime pass to "Tiger," who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing Bhekisisa Dlamini.

Highlanders attempted to respond but struggled to penetrate Nsingizini’s solid defence, marshaled by Pius Baffour.

The home side almost doubled their lead five minutes later, but ‘Masoso’ missed the target, and Philani Mkhonto squandered another chance after finding space in the box.

As the half progressed, Nsingizini intensified their attacks and were rewarded just before the break when "Yeki" scored, latching onto another precise pass from ‘Masoso’.

The first half ended with Nsingizini leading 2-0. The second half saw a shift in dynamics as Nsingizini focused on managing their lead, while Highlanders pressed desperately for a goal.

Mkhonto missed a golden opportunity in the 64th minute, failing to connect with a cross from Moloto  while Thabiso Mokenkoane’s tame effort was easily saved by Nsingizini goalkeeper Sibusiso ‘Baraba’ Dlamini.

The match grew increasingly intense, culminating in a midfield battle that saw Neliswa "Tiger" Dlamini and Philani Mkhonto both receiving red cards, leaving their respective teams with ten men.
Highlanders eventually reduced the deficit in the 88th minute when Mphucuko "Smoothies" Dlamini scored after connecting with a well-placed pass from Thabiso Mokenkoane.

However, it proved too little too late as Nsingizini held on to claim all three points.
Nsingizini Hotspurs’ win marked a strong finish to the year, showcasing their ability to compete against top opposition. For Highlanders, the loss highlights the need for greater precision and composure in critical moments.
