IN a fiery response on Facebook, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule has addressed recent allegations and probing questions from journalist Siphephelo of Zimoja News.
The questions, which pertained to the logistics and finances behind the upcoming Crown Gospel Music Awards, provoked a sharp reaction from Bishop Nkambule.
Siphephelo had reached out to Bishop Nkambule with questions centered on the organisation of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, set to take place on November 24.
These inquiries included concerns over venue payments, artist accommodations, ticket sales, and the Bishop's financial involvement with the event.
The questions cast doubt on the event's preparedness and funding, noting that some artists felt sidelined as their entry fees were reportedly being used to organise the awards.
Specifically, Siphephelo's questions pressed for clarity on Bishop Nkambule's personal finances, particularly in relation to rumors of his alleged unemployment and lack of business ventures.
The journalist also noted reports of a partial commitment from the Gauteng Government for E3 million, a fraction of the E15 million awarded the previous year.
Bishop Nkambule's strong response posted publicly conveyed his contempt for what he described as “pseudo journalism.”
In his statement, he outlined why he believed the questions did not warrant a response but proceeded to address key points to defend his integrity.
On the Crown Gospel Music Awards allegations the Bishop dismissed claims of mismanagement or financial exploitation involving the awards, stating that he does not sign on any account nor a director in the company.
He emphasised that he had appointed capable directors who handle such responsibilities. On his personal finances, addressing accusations of unemployment, Nkambule declared his financial independence and robust asset portfolio.
“A lot of these imbeciles talking about me being unemployed will not own the number of properties I own in two lifetimes,” he wrote, emphasising that he had never been impoverished and owed no explanation for his source of income.
The Bishop further called out the journalist for what he saw as an attempt at character assassination. He stated, “I don’t answer to paparazzi,” expressing that the questions were designed more for spectacle than sincere inquiry.
While asserting his strength and resilience, Nkambule highlighted that he would never flaunt wealth before the suffering people of Eswatini and South Africa. He claimed to have been raised with values of humility and kindness but made it clear that he was no “pushover.”
He concluded his post with a direct challenge to his critics: “Phumani kimi nine keyboard warriors surviving by the thread on TikTok and Facebook.”
Facebook user shared words of support one commenting “it’s a sign from God Bishop that even enemies you never thought you had, are manifesting now. But in all these things to God be the glory! Bishop God is with you Man of Valor”.
Others praised Nkambule for his response and felt he was disrespected.
