SOCCER - DESPERATE times call for desperate measures!
Mbabane Swallows players went to Madlenya House, the building of late former boss Victor Gamedze nestled in the centre of the capital city in an effort to meet Princess Lungile, the wife of the deceased business mogul.
After waiting for an hour, the players were told they would not be able to meet the princess.
Swallows players have issues with their salaries for the month of October. While some reportedly received half pay, some have not gotten a cent.
This happens when the Mbabane Swallows (Pty) Ltd versus Mbabane Swallows Football Club battle is ongoing. Under the status quo, Absalom Ngwenya is the chairman of Mbabane Swallows FC and represents what is arguably the oldest and one of the most successful clubs in history at the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). Princess Lungile reportedly took a backseat from running Swallows, under the umbrella of Mbabane Swallows (Pty) Ltd as the estate of her late beloved husband was being wind up by office of Master. Now that the estate process is over, Princess Lungile wants the full ownership of the club as it was registered as Gamedze's property, something that the Mbabane Swallows FC faction fought tooth and nail against. Visibly in financial struggles, it will seem the FC faction will give in as Princess Lungile mentioned in an interview about three months ago that she wanted the team back. According to a security officer within the building, Princess Lungile was not around when the players arrived at 2pm. He said they waited for about an hour in an effort to see Make Gamedze.
“They only told me that they had come to see Princess Lungile. I could see that they were Mbabane Swallows players because I know most of them,” said the security officer. “The players left the premises soon after learning that Make Gamedze was not around. All of them were here, they came around 2pm and left around 3pm,”said the security officer.
A Swallows player, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that some of his teammates went to see Princess Lungile.
“I know that most of the players went to see Princess Lungile but I did not go there. I heard that they did not see her but would try again next time,” he said.

Princess Lungile confirmed receiving a call from Madlenya House that Swallows players had come to see her. “I was not around. I was in meeting in Manzini and received a call from security officers that Swallows players wanted to see me. I am yet to find out their reason of coming to see me,” said Make Gamedze.
Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knoweldge Ngwenya could not be drawn for comment when contacted yesterday as his phone repeatedly rang unanswered.
