ALLY SUSPENDS ALL BULL ACTIVITIES

By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2024-10-30

SOCCER - THE cracks were there!

Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders have suspended all the team's activities, including training, following a faction of supporters calling for their Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe to step down.

This is the second week since the MD threatened to hand-over the club to the National Supporters Committee Chairman Mfanuzile 'Fash' Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer Musa Masuku and Sihle Magagula.

Highlanders Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini said they were waiting for a directive from Kgomongwe on when the team should resume its activities.

“Nothing has changed; the team is not training after an advice from the MD as he was the one who suspended the activities.

“I hope this will be addressed within two days as we also fear for the players' lives,” said Dlamini.

According to reliable sources, one of the reasons the team took this decision is to protect the players from a clique of supporters, who have a tendency to invade the training ground, thus exposing them to violent acts.

Meanwhile, head coach Mthunzi Ginindza revealed that they would suffer consequences of the ongoing issues in their upcoming tough MTN Premier League clashes against Young Buffaloes and Mbabane Swallows.

The black and white side will face-off with army side Young Buffaloes next Wednesday before taking on Swallows in the capital city derby.

Ginindza said they were waiting for a few things that the team’s patrons were still trying to address. “I cannot lie; the fact that the team is not training will affect us in the upcoming league matches.

“All thanks go to the national team for its CHAN assignment, otherwise this would be something else as some of the league games were not fixtured,” he said.

It has been gathered that a high-powered delegation from the patrons, headed by former Cabinet minister Mabili Dlamini and Border Restoration Committee member Bheka Mabuza met Kgomongwe in Pretoria, SA, to discuss the internal problems in the club, which are threatening peace and stability.

Sources close to the matter disclosed that this was a fruitful meeting, as the patrons have thrown their full weight behind the Pretoria-based businessman.

Kgomongwe was expected to arrive in the country this week to meet the rest of the patrons and discuss the burning issues in the club.
