Madlenya FC ………………(0)0
Rangers FC ………………... (2)3
Soccer - Rangers piled more misery for struggling Madlenya FC following a 3 - 0 victory against them in the MTN Premier League played yesterday at Ka Langa Technical Centre.
The Siphofaneni-based outfit remain winless from four outings with one goal. Coming to the match, the first 14 minutes of the encounter were a cagey affair with neither side wanting to venture forward.
In the 16th minute, the hosts were inches away from taking the lead, as Mncedisi Magagula outpaced the opposition’s defence only for his effort to miss the target. A few minutes later, Madlenya goalkeeper Mndeni Lukhele quickly reacted to Nduduzo Mvakali’s dangerous cross.
Neither side created clear-cut chances until 45 minutes when Rangers seasoned striker Musa Dlamini put his side in the driver’s seat thanks to the forward’s back heel that left Mndeni Lukhele with no chance.
The Shiselweni based outfit were not done as they scored their second goal a minute later with Sibonelelo Mhlanga, outpacing the host’s defence before beating Lukhele between the sticks, as Madlenya went to break trailing by two goals.
Needing a way back, the host refreshed their working personnel at the restart with a double substitution to try apply pressure with long balls into Rangers’ box. Melusi 'Vardy' Thwala's free kick was parried into fruitless corner kick by Samkelo Dlamini in 54th minute as Jozi Gobana continued to search for a goal.
Lindelwa Mngometulu also came close to finding the back of the net but was unlucky as the opposition goalkeeper denied him the chance. The William 'Masondeza' Gamedze led men continued to push forward in numbers with attackers Lindelwa, 'Vardy' and Mbusiseni all keen to grab late goals.
However, things didn't work for them as it was Rangers instead who nearly scored their third goal but Mndeni Lukhele denied Mvakali Nduduzo a chance at close range. Sibonelelo Mhlanga completed his brace in the referee’s stoppage time as the match ended in 3-0 in favour of the visitors.
