HAPPY 56TH BIRTHDAY YOUR MAJESTY

By Sibongile Sukati | 2024-04-16

THOSE who know me quite well are definitely aware that my favourite thing in the world is birthdays.

I believe that they should be celebrated no matter what and with whatever little you have, a person must give whoever is ‘birthdaying’ a small gift.

It could be a lollipop, lunch, a muffin or a flower, basically anything.
Of course given the economy these days, the best presents to give these days are cash gifts.

There is nothing nicer in the whole world than getting an in- contact not just on your birthday though, but any day. Which is why I am not too happy with our mobile companies randomly sending us messages about this and that promotion when all we associate messages with these days is money.

Anyway, I digress as I was talking about birthdays. It turns out Your Majesty that most of my favourite people like you Your Majesty were born in April. Since the 2nd of April, I swear I’ve been wishing people I love birthdays.

From five of my best friends (whether they like it or not), my sister, an ex –boyfriend and a prospective boyfriend, they have all had birthdays with more coming, which definitely shows that I click with Aries’.

In my world though, the best birthday gift for everyone would be for them to have a holiday on that day and be off work etc. Which brings me to your birthday Your Majesty, it is the best birthday ever in the entire world because it is a holiday for all of us.

I visited Google to find out which other countries have the similar privilege that we have of having the country’s leader’s birthday being a holiday and I struggled.

Google mentioned somewhere in Australia, but they move the date to the second Monday of June or something like that, which is not an exact date. Which goes without saying that Bayethe is the only one (according to my research) with this blessed day.

Over the years, His Majesty has only asked for one gift which is peace and in all honestly we have done that for the King save for 2021 when we had the unrest.

Of course, there were many factors which led to that, but today I would like those who have access to the King to, as one of their gifts, to him give him the gift of truth.

All those who have the privilege to give the King advice, must do so truthfully without having their own underhanded plans in all they do.

I was quite pleased to hear the Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla stating that she was content with shouldering the blame for poor service delivery.

Constituents
Dladla made these remarks on Saturday at a  thanksgiving ceremony for Mayiwane Member of Parliament Sicelo Dlamini.

Dladla said the constituents should blame the executive and legislative arms of government if they fail to execute His Majesty’s directives, which he issued at Sibaya.

It is, therefore, my opinion too that the best gift that our leaders (MPs and Cabinet ministers) can give to the King for his birthday not just this year, but moving onwards too.

Not that I know what the King thinks, but I am definitely sure that on his wish-list would be the completion of that International Convention Centre and Five Star Hotel (ICC&FISH) which has cost Emaswati, billions of Emalangeni.

The current government gave assurance that the structure would be completed by the end of 2024 and therefore can the minister of economic planning and development ensure that this happens. Still on the King’s wish-list, I am also sure he would truly appreciate the completion of Somhlolo National Stadium.

To think that for four years the country cannot get to the stadium to be accredited by FIFA is a crying shame. Instead, money is pumped in on a yearly basis, but we still haven’t achieved these standards.

This, in my opinion is one of the contributing factors to why our national team is performing poorly. Imagine being the King and a team called Sihlangu Semnikati yet they bring you no pride.

I’ve never met the minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, but I do hope you can bang the table in Cabinet pushing for this stadium issue to be sorted.

Still on the King’s wish-list, it’s the matter of getting rid of ‘boloslina’.
The minister of justice and constitutional affairs with the Anti Corruption Commission should really do something on having these corrupt individuals arrested.

This country would be such a  better place if corrupt individuals were arrested. Sometimes the King alternates between boloslina or bobhabuli, but the bottom line is that these people should be arrested sooner than later.

I am sure the King’s wish-list is long, but above all as he normally asks please give him PEACE. As we look forward to Friday, we can only hope for a great celebration, Mankayane, over to you!

Happy Birthday Your Majesty.
