SOCCER - OUT of contract Mbabane Highlanders striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa is a wanted man for many teams in the country.

The prolific striker is now heavily linked with Correctional Services side Green Mamba ahead of the new season. He is on also on the radar of reigning league champions Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes.

Ndzinisa has been instrumental in the ‘Black Bull’ that went on to finish  in the  second spot of the 2020/21  MTN Premier League and qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup where they will take on South African giants Royal AM.

The national team Sihlangu striker’s contract with the ‘Bull’ is said to have expired at the end of the previous season where he also won the MTN Premier League Player of the season award.

The former Mbabane Swallows striker joined Highlanders two seasons ago from Mbombela United.

‘Sikhali’ played a vital role this season in the colours of Highlanders, playing in almost all their games and scoring crucial goals that saw him finish second in the top goal scorers’ chart.

Ndzinisa made it clear that there were offers but he would take his time before deciding on the next move.

Highlanders have already confirmed that their contract with the player has expired but would like to keep him in the team.  A reliable source confirmed that Green Mamba were interested in signing the player.

“I can tell you that the player was with Green Mamba officials today (yesterday). To me this is a clear sign that they want to sign him.”

The source said he was also told that the official introduced the player to the club President and HMCS Commissioner General Lamakhosini Dlamini.

“This should tell you that the team has decided to up their gear in signing the player. I am not sure what was discussed today (yesterday) but he did meet with the superiors.”
Contacted yesterday, the player asked to be contacted after 10 minutes.
However, the second attempt proved futile after his phone was engaged.

The commissioner general declined to comment and referred queries to the HMCS Public Relations Officer Gugulethu Dlamini.  However, the spokesperson said matters pertaining to Green Mamba were being handled by its CEO Mandla Sibiya.

Meanwhile, Sibiya said he was not aware that the player was at the Matsapha Correctional Services yesterday.

“I know nothing about the players being introduced to the commissioner general. This is news to me. What I can tell you is that if we can get a chance to sign him, we can grab that opportunity with both hands.

He is a good player and we would like to have him in our team,” he said. Sibiya said what he knew was that there were new players who were training with the team but they had not signed any contract with the team and the coach was still assessing them.

He said “If there are any developments in the team we will announce.”
