SOCCER - FORMER Royal Leopard and Sagrada Esparanca pacey winger Bonginkhosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini will join the national team camp next Friday.
The former Hub Sundowns player is among the 26-men squad to represent the country in the 2023 Total Energies AFCON Qualifier matches against Togo and Burkina Faso to be played on June 3 and June 7 respectively, however the venue for Eswatini’s home matches are still not known as Somhlolo Stadium according to the continental governing body still does not meet the required standards to host category ‘A’ CAF games and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) will be forced to seek refuge in neighbouring South Africa.
Dlamini said he was left with two league games at the Girabola League side which shall be played on Monday and Thursday respectively. “I will be playing my last league game next Thursday and will be in Eswatini by Friday evening,” he said. The rest of the Sihlangu squad started training camp on Sunday evening at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre in Lobamba.
The pride of the nation defeated lowly ranked Somalia 5-1 on aggregate in the preliminaries to enter this stage where they also have Cape Verde in their group. Sihlangu will start away to Togo in the opening game before hosting Burkina Faso four days later.
