Probase Eswatini has covered over 90 per cent of the road construction project, which is part of the E1.6 billion upgrading of rural roads. The project, which is an agreement between Probase Pty Limited and the government of Eswatini, started in December 2018 and is expected to be completed next month.
The three year contract stipulated that Probase Eswatini should cover a 200km stretch in different parts of the country. Probase Eswatini Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nosimilo Simelane said in an interview that the company had completed about 188km of the 200km as stipulated in the contract. The 200 km covers 15 roads in different constituencies around the country.
“Most of the roads have been certified and we are left with touch ups in the few that have not been certified,” she said. Some of the roads include the Mahlanya-Bethany road, Ngwane College-MR11 Junction, Ntondozi-KaNdinda, Masiphula-Mkhwakhweni, Ezulwini-Langeni P.School, LaMgabhi-Gobholo, Mpolonjeni-Mbabane and Ngwane Park- Sidvokodvo, to name a few.
Confident Simelane said they were confident that they would deliver as per their contractual obligations. The Probase Road transformation occurs in two steps, which is the stabilisation, using Probase TX-85 Soil Stabiliser and Strengthner and then the Sealing, using PB-65 Soil Sealant.
